Carcinogens differ somewhat from other toxins for two very important reasons. First, very small amounts of material can cause a carcinogenic effect. Heat input from cables causes greater ground dryness, thus increasing ground thermal resistivity. For this reason, temperature is being increased even further, therefore reducing humidity even more. Should the heat flow caused by cables goes beyond measure, the conditions will miss the right thermal balance causing a cascade effect.
This has been the case after the 24 hour operation to the limit of its capacity. In addition, a sensor for measuring temperature was installed on every location in contact with the outer cable jacketing for measuring out the ground heat dissipation capability on each location. Following there is a detailed observation from those probings: Measuring Point 1: It is located between 2 failure positions on the cable.
Ground encountered is composed of a totally dried very thin sand layer. Measuring Point 2: It is located at a meter NW-oriented distance from previous position. Ground encountered results in a totally wet sand layer. Measuring Point 3: Probing performed at a 1, meter SE-oriented distance from the original position. Ground encountered results in reddish-brown soil of little humidity. Measuring Point 4: It is performed at a meter SE-oriented from the original position. Following observations in the excavations performed, it was determined that the portion of cable route with potential risk to future failures was being delimited by points Performing measurements after a three day period was necessary to gain some stable temperature level after covering the probes.
For that reason thermal analysis was performed by measuring temperatures on this location. Outer Cable Temperature In order to obtain the ratio between the electrical three-phase lines load status and the temperature values measured, three-phase lines loads were recorded all along the same time of the day. Input of current values from the three-phase lines on an hourly basis and then assuming soil thermal resistivity values allows to obtain outer cable jacketing temperatures.
Soil thermal resistivity survey was possible by aproaching a measured temperature curve to a temperature based on a preset value. Figure 6. The resulting thermal resistivity accounts for the cable high temperature values, therefore occurring the subsequent failures after 24 hour continuous operation at maximum load. That is the reason why so many repeated failures have occurred in that portion of the cable route. After discovering root causes for cable overheating, it has become necessary to find the way to retoring soil features and optimizing heat dissipation capability of all three-phase lines, the purpose of which is to return the installation power to normal.
With this in view, a PVC tube has been fitted as shown on Figures The tubing has been used to feed in water in order to wet the ground and improve soil thermal resistivity coefficient. Along different portions and directly on the cable more thermocouples have been added to measure temperature and evaluate whether the results have been proper enough. Figure 7. This way the even distribution of humidity on the ground was achieved all along the cable route, avoiding possible timely overheating events.
The proper location of sensors was in between the closest existing plugs with the aim to measure temperature at the furthest point possible from the feed-in points.
After the excavation and installation of tubes, all tubing was buried under ordinary earth instead of the already removed sand. As the various lengths of tubing were completed, feeding of water and measuring the temperature through the fitted thermocouples started. This was necessary because the affected area of the installation was 1, meters long, and an alternative solution would become essential, should the expected results were not feasible. Figure 9 shows qualitative temperature record curves for some of the sensors installed.
In addittion to reducing temperature, values among every location became standarized. Figure 9. In such a case, the early detection of a new injection of water is significant taking into account both load and temperature present in cables. After feeding in all water plugs, the ground humidity contents was such that the normal operation of all three-phase lines was possible. A weekly measurement frequency could be performed under this condition whenever a A average current was not exceeded.
When a higher load status became necessary, a more frequent monitoring became essential to check that temperatures would be kept within the expected values, i.
Figure 10 shows the expected temperature values for the three-phase line under survey based on the load record from both three-phase lines. Assuming the more proper curve depending on the current flow on that three-phase line and according to the current flow through the three-phase line under survey, it is possible to know the temperature for normal operation. It is important to state that these curves result from the cable operating temperatures under balanced, continuous and simultaneous conditions. Accordingly, in the case of cables with low load values, dryness of the soil should not be assumed whenever the temperature measured is a bit higher than the temperature shown in the graph.
That may be the case when thermal inertia in the installation is present, i. On the contrary, in the case of three-phase lines with high load values, whenever the measured temperature is closer to the temperature shown in the graph, it does not necessarily mean that the condition is normal since it might be that the expected balance has not been reached yet. Figure According to the explanation above, high load values present in three-phase lines mean a higher measurement frequency.
Daily measurements were necessary, especially performed at maximum load hours A or more. And like a summary, the policy based on the recorded values has been translated into graphical information on a chart. Figure 11 shows the graph curve to be followed regarding the actions that should be implemented based on the load values and the recorded temperatures, assuming a A value for the second three-phase line.
Similar curve graphs have been acquired for the different current values present in the same three-phase line. The closest value to the actual average value should be the one to be used. Primary measurements from each sensor show higher values, then coming to lower values as soon as the water injection begins. This is the baseline used to estimate the cable original thermal value. Should the ground humidity level is being achieved, that will be the expected temperature in all cables.

The archaeological excavations were supported with the existing archival material, and enabled the first assessment of Jerez society to be carried out, including a whole series of elements that have not been studied thus far, such as the causes of death and disease suffered by the people of the city. To this end, a study was carried out examining the pathologies found in the skeletal remains housed at the municipal archaeological museum of Jerez de la Frontera, which originated mainly from epidemic burials.

The Visigoth settlement in the Iberian Peninsula and its relationship with the archaeological record of the 5th-6th centuries AD continues to be one of the most controversial issues in Spanish archaeology. The purely archaeological aspect of the controversy relates to an archaeological interpretation, stemming from the ranks of the so-called New Archeology, of the Castilian necropoleis containing grave goods of Pontic-Danubian type. This interpretation places special emphasis on social and cultural phenomena above the ethnic criteria defended by the Vienna School.

The geoarchaeological approach allowed the understanding of the stratigraphic sequence and the processes of formation and post-depositional disturbance of the archaeological sites in a fluvial environment.
Archaeological excavations, soundings, stratigraphic profile surveys, sequence correlations and numerical dates were carried out. The dispersion of artifacts on the surface and cave erosion was recorded, and a lithic taphonomy study was carried out. The new chronologies obtained for the initial period of human occupation in the region represent a scientific advance for the study of hunter-gatherer occupations during the Late Pleistocene-Early Holocene in the triple border of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
She acts as a consultant in archaeological and patrimonial research in environmental licensing, with experience in Precolonial research and Patrimonial Education.
