He has only until college graduation to find her. Allie's perfect, but she wants nothing to do with him. When attraction becomes something more, will he take a chance and show her who he really is, or will he lose everything? Crescent Chronicles 4 books in series. Flight Summary.
Book 1. Add to basket failed. Please try again later. And could he be more rapey?? We get it! Levi is attractive! And Allie is aware of being physically attracted to him. But she keeps expressing her disinterest but he keeps pursuing her relentlessly. And she's not ev Update 1: Okay, what are these guys?? And she's not even being coy! She's not playing hard to get! She's thinking, 'hey, this guy is hella fine but I vowed to myself time away from relationships, it's what's good for me right now, and I have no interest in getting involved with anyone, no matter how cute they are.
Plus, he's rude, smarmy, clearly a player and aggressively ignores my boundaries, so no I do not want to hit that. But Levi is obviously the type of guy that girls don't say no to so he views Allie as gag me a challenge; a prize to be won. In an excessively cringey, creepy scene he refuses to tell her what drink it is he's bought her so that he's the one who has to keep getting it for her. He downright refuses to tell her, won't even let her go to the bar. Is this supposed to be a romantic gesture?
A sweet pursuit? Because it's not.
It's skeevey and entirely problematic. As an afterthought, he probably is a bird because I hate him so much already. Update 2: That punk ass bitch ate her cake! Also, I cannot tell you how uncomfortable it made me that her friend, whose name I already can't remember, had to flee the freaking state and abandon what was supposed to be a fun summer with a her best friend before they went off to separate colleges because she had sex with Levi's gross friend, whom I also cannot remember the name of.
It was her first time and the only reason she went through with it was because he didn't ask if she was sure before sticking it in. And lemme tell you why his upsets me on so many levels. Strike one. He was douchey enough not to make perfectly clear that the drunk 18 year old was sure she wanted to have sex with him, who I believe is Strike two.
She then felt as though the whole thing was her fault, was clearly beginning to internalize her shame and self loathing over the situation and, again, felt she had to flee the state. Strike three, yer done! Then, to top it all off, her parting words of wisdom to Allie are that she should give Levi a chance Let me repeat: she tells her friend that she should still hook up with Levi, close friend of the scumbag who just took her virginity and left her traumatized, even though the only interactions she's seen between them have been Allie shooting him down and him completely disrespecting her wishes and boundaries.
Yeah gurl! That's clearly a great idea! Please shoot me. Update 3: Ah dammit. They're birds. And they're stupid birds! This story has been wrought with so many cliche lines so far, and yet the one that's inexplicably overlooked is where the supernatural creature s ask for their secret to be kept. Not a single one of them told her to keep quiet about what she's seen. Is it supposed to be common knowledge that fucking crow people are flying around New Orleans? Otherwise, I can't explain this in any other way than they're all complete idiots. Their hybrid shifter-ness does not only apply to the inheritance of bird wings, but also bird brains!
This has to be it because why on earth would they agree to show this girl they've known for about a month and know nothing about other than she openly despises precisely fifty percent of their group, that they can fly? Answer: they're fucking stupid. Would it really have been too hard to go, 'hey Allie.
I know you're freaking the fuck out right now and are clearly in shock but maybe just keep his hush hush between us, eh? But of course a pervy comment from Leviathan no seriously, what is even that name for a character? I just keep thinking of Supernatural. Kill him with borax! Update 4: Is it normal for 18 year olds to get served at every bar they go to without ever being asked for ID in New Orleans?
Legitimately, is that normal because this girl gets handed alcoholic beverages left and right with no one batting an eye. This is her first time in this city and she's not even nervous about it, what am I missing?? Also, now that she knows grody creepy Levi is a bird she is sopping. It's so gross, just ew. When Allie receives an invitation from her father to work in his new hotel in New Orleans, she sees it as a chance to experience something new before heading off to college. Allie is looking for a summer of adventure and excitement--what she gets may be more than she ever expected. After breaking up with her boyfriend before leaving for New Orleans, Allie swore off men. But when she catches the eye of Levi Laurent in the lobby of the Crescent City Hotel, everything changes--for better and for worse. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who could relate to Allie.
She has her life planned out and anything that doesn't fit into that plan she immediately dismisses. But then a wrench is thrown into her plans--in the form of Levi--and she's left floundering. I figure it this way: When your life is all planned out, the way Allie's is, there is no room for change or surprises, and because of that you could miss out on something truly great and, for Allie, life-altering.
Although there is also the chance that the change coming your way is not so great and you're left lost and wondering what went wrong. Change is a double-edged sword that can cut both ways, and in Allie's case, Levi--the wrench in her plans--caused her great happiness, but also great hurt. But it's the way you bounce back that counts. Levi Laurent is arrogant and very persistent. And let's face it: No one that gorgeous can be human. And he's not. Levi is a Pteron, a race of shapeshifter that long ago used to turn into crows, but now are more of a hybrid--they remain in human form, except for massive black wings that sprout from their backs.
Allie is the first and only girl Levi has ever flown and shared his secret with. I think that Allie's introduction and acceptance was a little too smooth, and that's where the problem started. Allie accepted what Levi and his friends are, but not their culture. Although, in Allie's defense, Levi was too close-lipped about how things work in their society, and Allie had to learn about it secondhand from someone else.
Because of this, Allie got into a situation that caused her great hurt--mentally, emotionally, and physically. Levi's massive screw-up basically brought their relationship to a screeching halt. I can't blame Allie fro being furious with Levi, she has every right to feel the way she does. But I do believe in second chances. Though Levi was stupid, he did what he did out of fear of losing Allie, and he truly loves her. I believe that he should be given one more chance, if only to try to make things right again. The fact that Allie still loves him, though she'll deny it, gives me hope that time might heal her hurt and her love for him will be strong enough to survive the coming challenges.
Flight is an engrossing read--I never wanted the story to stop! With the way the book ended, I'm dying to know what happens next for Allie, Levi, and the Pterons. Sep 11, Rachel Marks rated it it was amazing Shelves: new-adult-paranormal. Within the first page I was completely pulled into the story and I could not put it down until I reached the end.
Because of the title, Flight, I immediately thought that the book was going to be about angels and I was happily surprised to find out that Alyssa Rose Ivy had come up with a new and interesting paranormal creature that is all her own.
After breaking up with her boyfriend Allie decides to swear off men for the summer, however, when she meets Levi all of her thoughts begin to change. As their attraction for one another becomes stronger Allie is thrown into a supernatural world that she never knew existed. When the summer comes to an end, Allie is forced to make a choice. She must decide to continue on the path she has always been on or help save a city and a supernatural world that she never knew. I absolutely loved the world the Alyssa Rose Ivy created.
The backdrop of New Orleans allowed for a magical and mysterious element in the storyline. The characters are just as colorful as the city of New Orleans and are fully fleshed out and most importantly believable. The relationship between Allie and Levi is heartwarming and intense.
Their banter back an forth left me laughing out loud and I kept reading to find out where there relationship would go. The ending was such a huge cliff hanger that I am now eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series! Alyssa Rose Ivy has quickly become one of my new favorite authors. I give Flight a 5 star review and I highly recommend it! Jun 03, Tee loves Kyle Jacobson rated it it was amazing Shelves: must-reads , atomr-book-tours. I did a cover reveal for Flight and when I read the blurb I knew I had to read it.
Lord was I not disappointed! Flight takes place in New Orleans and if any of you know New Orleans is beautiful. Hurricane Katrina tore it apart but the folks put it back together and most of the historic district was saved. While reading flight I kept picturing certain places in my mind and I am so glad I had those extra visuals because this book had me hooked from the very beginning. Allie has sworn off all guys I did a cover reveal for Flight and when I read the blurb I knew I had to read it.
Allie has sworn off all guys for the summer. She is determined to work at her fathers hotel with her best friend Jess and enjoy the summer and what it has to offer. Only when they get to the hotel Allie sees this gorgeous guy and his friend. Jess wants to talk to the friend and the guys invite them out for drinks.
Allie is very cautious about Levi and takes the time to get to know him. So when Jess decides she is going home earlier than Allie Allie decides to stay. Allie and Levi get closer and Levi shares his secret with her. Once Allie knows what he is she decides to stay by him. Only Allie doesn't know the whole truth and in the end once it is revealed Allie will have to make a decision that will change her life forever.
What will she do? Will she stay with Levi? Will she go home? Come along on a fantastic ride and meet some great characters and enjoy the New Orleans scenary while learning some serious secrets. Nov 08, AkiraHeartnet rated it it was amazing. I'm flying right now!! I mean Flight's so much more than I've looking for yet expected from it. I even barely remember the sysnopsis before I started read it. Maybe I wanted something that unexpected without even peeking for it. And yeah this is paranormal romance story I've never had read before. Alyssa has brought me into a new story of the paranormal world and I believe this also an epic paranormal story even though there were more bout romances than the paranormal elements as I though I'm flying right now!!
Alyssa has brought me into a new story of the paranormal world and I believe this also an epic paranormal story even though there were more bout romances than the paranormal elements as I thought it should. I used to be drawn into angels and vampires stories but shapeshifters.
That I would say I really enjoyed the story. Yet I never have read anything like relationship between human girl with the prince of paranormal world. Could you imagine how interesting it would be after the girl realized she has being tricked view spoiler [by the prince himself hide spoiler ] to be bound with the prince?? Three Stars: An interesting paranormal read with a lackluster romance. Allie is excited to settle into her summer job at her father's hotel in New Orleans before heading off to Princeton in the fall.
Allie plans to enjoy her summer with her best friend without any romantic entanglements since she has sworn off guys. Her resolve is immediately tested when she catches the eye of a handsome stranger at the bar when she enters the hotel. Levi is handsome and charming and hiding a big secret.
Will All Three Stars: An interesting paranormal read with a lackluster romance. Will Allie find love in New Orleans? If I had read it a couple of years ago when it released I would have been more impressed. This book features an interesting paranormal shapeshifter that is original and exciting. If you are looking for something fresh and creative when it comes to paranormal romance give this little indie book a chance. There are some startling developments that I am interested to follow up on in the subsequent books. It does start out as an immediate attraction, but Allie holds her ground and continues to push Levi away as she tries to maintain her creed to avoid men.
However, Levi wears her down, and the romance builds from there. It is a romance full of ups and downs and strange developments. After the big events, I am not sure how I feel about the romance in the future. Levi has a lot of groveling to do, which I want to see. It was well written and edited. The writing was good and the story delivered.
I picked this up as an Freebie and I am glad that I took a chance. I felt absolutely no attraction to Levi, and I kept thinking that another guy was going to come along and sweep Allie off her feet. No love triangle develops which is a good and bad thing. I felt no connection to the romance, and I didn't like Levi, especially after what he did at the end. For most of the book, I wanted him to go away. I wanted to know so much more about the shapeshifters, but the details were scant. There is hardly any mention of the city, and it doesn't play a major role in the story.
Too bad. She is an empty headed, boy chaser who ends up going home after a stupid decision. I was glad she was out of the story early on, but I felt like there was something more to her departure.
So you dated a jerk, who cares, forget about him. I can't help it, he did a crappy thing but he did it out of love and because of that, my hopeless romantic side can't hate him. No, I wish that was it, but no. I thought of my parents, of all the things I wanted to tell them but never did, my friends from home, and the experiences I longed for. Levi might be hot, strong, and have a cool set of wings, but it's not enough to make up for keeping Allie in the dark. Aug 10, Kitty I solemnly swear that I am up to no good rated it it was ok Shelves: werewolves-wererats-etc , burn-my-eyes-out-make-me-forget , gaping-plot-holes , wtf , unoriginal-cliched-and-boring , unconvincing-bad-boy-wannabe-s , young-adult , fantasy , instilove , formula-writing. Jess and I each had our own room with a bathroom and we shared a large common living space complete with a kitchenette.
He was pretty much non existent in the story. Where was he? Flight was a bit of a disappointment to me as I felt no connection to the romance, and I felt the world building was weak and that the book ended on a cliffhanger. Still for a self pubbed title it was well written and it had a good story line. If you are a fan of paranormal romance and you want something original as far as paranormal creatures go, give this one a chance. I can't complain as I snagged it up as an Amazon freebie. I purchased a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review. Posted Rainy Day Ramblings.
Aug 06, Mlpmom Book Reviewer rated it really liked it Shelves: kindle-books , arc-book-read. I really almost wish I hadn't started this book. Why you ask? Because, it is going to be an awful long wait until the next one is out and that, well, that just makes me sad.
I didn't want this one to end. I wasn't ready for it to be over. I want more. What happens next? Do they make it? Where does their story go from here? So yeah, needless to say, I fell in love with the characters, the writing, the story, the whole thing. I loved the I really almost wish I hadn't started this book. I loved the whole idea, the concept, the uniqueness that made up the whole world that Ivy created.
It was full of win amd darn it, I want the second book to be out, like now. I am not even going to go into the details of this story because I don't want to ruin anything and it is hard to know what I can and can't say that will give something away. I will give you a little hint though, if you like hot leading men with a little bit of an alpha complex, a heroine that is just your average girl but is feisty and can hold her own.
And yeah, a world full of the paranormal in the spooky city of New Orleans, then this is the story for you. The romance in this one was perfect, not over the top or insta love at all, in fact, the ending will surprise you even. No body is perfect in this one, the hot leading man Levi? He made mistakes, big mistakes in fact but I still loved him and was still rooting for him, which honestly surprised me. And Allie, well, she isn't perfect either. She is stubborn and head strong and isn't always smart either and that just made me like her all the more too. That doesn't always work in a story, but it did in this one.
Ivy did a beautiful job making it all work. It wasn't perfect and things were left out of the story, everything didn't end happily and all wasn't explained but, hey, that makes me want to read the second one all the more. Because, I want all those questions answered and all the details to be uncovered. And yes, I want more Levi. I can't help it, he did a crappy thing but he did it out of love and because of that, my hopeless romantic side can't hate him. So well done Ivy, you got me hooked!
I will anxiously be awaiting the release of Focus. I give this one 4 Stars!!

Oct 11, Heather Robbins rated it it was amazing. We should all know by now that while those are not really "my thang" I do enjoy them every now and then. Derailed was Great! I thoroughly enjoyed it. So I thought hey I like the way this gal writes Did this book was like Woah!
What a great female character! She has sworn off men after some trouble and well when she arrives in New Orleans, let's just say she doesn't stand a chance. I love how she handles herself, in all situations. Her friend Jess.. I really got pissed at her at one point. What can I say But as the story goes along, Not so much! This guy has it all! He is smart, sexy and Alpha!
Adventure is sure to be had anytime Levi and his buddies are around. I fell for him with his smooth talking and not giving up attitude. He wan't pushy and never took things "too far" when he met Allie. There are times when I would be all swoony over him and something he says I'm going to have my own name for you. Then it gets dangerous! Cannot wait to see what happens next! The other characters Owen , Jared, Haley.. I adored each of them although at one point I wanted to punch one of them in the face Alyssa Rocked My Face Off with this one! Mar 18, Caroline Greyling rated it liked it Shelves: fantasy-fiction.
Allie has just graduated and is about to start college. When her father invites her to spend the Summer working at his hotel in New Orleans, she jumps at the chance, partly to have some fun before college, and partly to get away from her ex-boyfriend. Allie drags her best friend off to New Orleans, determined to keep boys out of the picture.
Then she meets Levi…Can she resist his charm and is she strong enough to handle the secret world he is involved in? I honestly struggled with this novel and Allie has just graduated and is about to start college. I honestly struggled with this novel and there were many times I seriously considered giving up. The characters just seemed very two dimensional, and many of the scenes came across as contrived and under-developed. The story was slow to start too. Allie's perfect but she wants nothing to do with him.
When attraction becomes something more, will he take a chance and show her who he really is or will he lose everything? Levi's almost out of time. Allie's the one, he knows it in every grain of his being, but how can he make her see it? Desperate to keep Allie safe and at his side, he takes the biggest risk of his life. Reckless or not there is nothing he wouldn't do to keep her with him Barnes and Noble. Flight the Crescent Chronicles 1 Sometimes you just have to take flight.
